Apparently, its from a set of Harold Fisk’s 1944 geological investigation of the Alluvial Valley of Mississippi River report for the U.S. Army Corps and shows the history of the Mississippi river shifting course.
MAPS on the brain. I’m clearly planning on running away. soon.

To me, this map beautifully displays the intricacies of what was known versus the vast absence of what is now known. This is probably one of the last maps made in this fashion before Columbus in the late 15th century. The history and change this map represents is bewitching. I’ll be daydreaming all day…
